Bruno Lefeldt (1927 - 2010), jazz pianist and painter, was my half-brother from my father's first marriage.
In his early years, Bruno Lefeldt worked full-time as a graphic artist and also painted on the side. He mainly played modern jazz with his own trio, but he also played in various traditional Hamburg bands, such as the Riverside Jazzband. In the 50s and 60s, the Bruno Lefeldt Trio was one of the best combos in the city alongside Michael Naura's band. When there was hardly any money to be made with his own trio and with graphic art and painting, Lefeldt joined Addi Münster's Old Merrytale Jazzband.

Bruno Lefeldt's artistic work in the 1970s was mainly influenced by Constructivism and Concrete Art (Josef Albers). Various stylistic experiments followed, but with his main occupation as a jazz pianist, painting increasingly faded into the background, so that Bruno Lefeldt's artistic activities were limited to (stylistic) copies of classical modernist paintings (Picasso, Miró, Macke etc.).
The works shown on these pages are all in my collection.
