The technique used for these photo graphics series is based on a traditional photographic copying process. The basic idea is the visualization of microscopically small scratches and traces of paint by means of optical enlargement technology. For this purpose the images are painted with india ink (partly also glass color) and brush (needle) on slide cover glasses and thereafter copied through contact process on orthochromatic positive film (roll film). In a next step the generated negatives are exposed on common photographic paper. This painting method was improved over the years, for instance by treating the covering glasses on a focusing screen illuminated from below, which at the same time affected the drying process through heat emissions.
